About us

In this site, we attempt to make available to Tamil people in India and the Tamil diaspora good Christian material— Books translated from English and hymns for worship, to start with.

It is not by design on our part, that the contributers to this project are descendents of Rev. N.Samuel, pastor and theologian in the Lutheran church from 1878.  But it is interesting to us that he was a great lover of Spurgeon’s works, and possessed many of his books in his library. After reading John Ploughman’s Talk and John Ploughman’s Pictures, he wrote Ullathu Solvane. Rev. N. Samuel was known as Tamil Spurgeon, although it is not clear if he was thus known because of his strictness in doctrinal matters or because of his homiletic gifts.

God, in great part through the efforts of N.Samuel’s grandson, Gnana Bhaktamitran (GB), led us in a unique way, to what is known in theological circles as the ‘Reformed’ position. We have among us a gifted translator in Vinotha Surendar (VS), whose work we’ll be posting here. She intends to use her time to translate good ‘Reformed’ material into Tamil. We will also be uploading the hymns and lyrics compliled by GB, some of which were compose or translated by him.
