Hymn in English
1. Dying with Jesus, by death reckoned mine;
Living with Jesus, a new life divine;
Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine,
Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.Chorus
Moment by moment I’m kept in His love;
Moment by moment I’ve life from above;
Looking to Jesus till glory doth shine;
Moment by moment, O Lord, I am Thine.2. Never a trial that He is not there,
Never a burden that He doth not bear,
Never a sorrow that He doth not share,
Moment by moment, I’m under His care.3. Never a heartache, and never a groan,
Never a teardrop and never a moan;
Never a danger but there on the throne,
Moment by moment He thinks of His own.4. Never a weakness that He doth not feel,
Never a sickness that He cannot heal;
Moment by moment, in woe or in weal,
Jesus my Savior, abides with me still.
Devotional thoughts/historical background
For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory. (Colossians 3:3-4)
Three things to remember when singing this song:
Firstly (For you have died), let us engage in introspection as we remember the truth that when we died with Christ, we died to the old taskmaster, Sin, which has now been rendered inoperative in believers by the death, burial and resurrection of Christ Jesus. Our position in Christ is fixed forever, but do we live a life that is worthy of such a high position?Secondly (your life is hidden with Christ), let us be assured of His protection with us through all of life’s situations. It is even more than mere physical protection, for we are kept safe from the forces of darkness and even from our own lack of spiritual fervour. Praise God, our security does not depend on how “high” we feel, but our spiritual safety is in Him.
Thirdly (you also will appear with him in glory), the hidden life is not hidden forever. There will be a glorious “revealing of the sons of God” (Rom 8:18-19) and He will bring “many sons to glory” (Heb 2:10)
